Alberta Network for Safe and
The ANSHC continues to explore and develop prevention strategies that will support service providers in their work with families. We are currently researching new training and resources to enhance programs and services to families in Alberta. This website is meant to offer parents, caregivers and professionals information on how to find help and build awareness.
If you are concerned about the healthy or safety of a child, call the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-387-5437.
Alberta Father Involvement Initiative
This initiative, only the third of its kind in Canada, is funded by Encana through their relationship with the Stollery Foundation. The Network has contracted the Alberta Home Visitation Network Association as fiscal agent. Kyle Campiou is the Provincial Coordinator and can be contacted at email@example.com. Please check out www.abdads.ca for more information.
This project focuses on developing translated audio resources by providing information about pregnancy and parenting children up to 18 months. With the financial support provided by Children and Youth Services and the Foresters we have produced excellent resources in: European French, Mandarin, Somali, Spanish, and Sudanese Arabic.
The content is primarily selected from Growing Miracles, a handbook for parents distributed through Alberta Health Services in Calgary, and various other evidence-based resources with additional information provided by Human Services.
The resources are available on this website by podcast to download onto CDs, if desired. The length of the recordings vary with each language but average 3.5 hours of recorded time.
We will be reviewing current resources and updating them as needed. If you have any feedback on what you like about the resources available, or suggestions on how to improve them, pelase contact the Provincial Coordinator.
Free training opportunities are available to community groups and organzations on the following:
- Coping with Crying and the Effects of Shaken Baby Syndrome
- Raising and Responding to Sensitive Topics
- Overview of Intimate Partner Violence
- Impact of Exposure to Family Violence
Please contact the Provincial Coordinator to book a training.
